We’re half way through the year, how crazy is that! I say it every month but where is the year going?
I found myself talking to a friend the other day and saying that I feel the past 6 months has gone by in a flash and I didn’t feel like I’ve got much done. Later that night I was sitting at the computer sorting though my photo library (it store photos, logos and images for the blog) and realized that actually I’ve achieved a hell of a lot this year! I don’t know what it is about the British mindset that seems to make us down play our achievements but I really need to teach myself to stop doing it.
2019 has really been our year so far and finally getting our money situation sorted has played a huge part in that.
In January this year we finished paying off our debt and it’s meant so much less stress in our lives! We’ve started work on our Baby Step 3 Fully Funded Emergency Fund and have cashflowed the start of our Extreme Garden Makeover, my side hustle businesses have gone from strength to strength and we’re in a position now where we feel like we can start trying for a baby – when you look at it like that the first half of 2019 has been pretty awesome!
So tell me, how’s the first half of your 2019 looked – Have you made a start on bettering your finances? Are you in the middle of your debt snowball? Have you only just found the #debtfreecommunity and wanting to know where to start? Wherever you are on your money journey this months giveaway prizes would be a perfect addition to your money managing toolbox!
The Prize Bundle includes
- A Monthly Budget Planner – You can’t beat a pen and paper budget, especially if you’re just getting to grips with budgeting.
- ‘Envelope’ Wallet System – Cash envelopes are another fab tool for managing money. It allows you to really see where you money is going and think about what you are spending.
- The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach – This is a book I hear mentioned constantly in the debt free community so though it’d be a good one to add in for this months prize bundle.
- A years subscription to YNAB – The team at YNAB have been kind enough to gift a years subscription (worth £65) to the lucky winner. I have used lots of online tools to keep track of our budget but YNAB is by far my favourite. It helps you keep on top of your spending, saving and your debt snowball – you can even track your networth!
June Giveaway – CharlotteMusha
The giveaway will end at midnight on the 30th of June and is open worldwide!
Please do share with your friends and on social media if you get the chance, I fund the majority of the prizes in giveaways from my own pocket and having people share them really helps to promote my little corner of the internet to ensure I can continue doing them!
Brilliant prize just what I need to get this debt shifted.
Great giveaway. Thanks for this 🙂
I was just thinking this the other day- I cannot believe it’s June already! It really does feel like it’s gone too fast and that maybe I haven’t done enough in the past six months, but you know what, taking the time to look back I’ve realise I have actually achieved quite a bit. Just last night I posted the fact that I’d dipped below 4k in debt and as a result I’ve set myself a (somewhat extreme) goal of clearing that within the next six months. /sweatdrop.
I’m actually in the process of looking through budgeting tools at the moment too, and YNAB keeps popping up but I’m put off because you have to pay for it and atm I’m just focusing on funnelling everything into my debt :/ I have signed up for everydollar in the meantime though.

PS. I found your blog because of your UK version of the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps 🙂
The first half of 2019 has been amazing so far! We have been paying off debt little by little! We’ve changed our grocery budget from $600+ /m to $300. We are not doing snowball method yet but learning about it. I just found the Dfc on Instagram but I’ve been working on debt since january’! Thank you for this chance! It’d be so life changing!
Fingers crossed
Fab giveaway thanks for the chance 🙂
By meal planning and sticking to a budget.
I have just started following DR and getting my self sorted with finances. This is my first month of following a budget and so far so good. Any extra help is always welcome though.
We’ve made a spreadsheet of ins and outs which has been very helpful!
Who won the may contest ? trying again thanks
It shows on last months post
I bought a holiday chalet with an inheritance to make money to help with bills but am struggling to cover ground rent for the chalet at mo- its a big learning curve- having two teenagers certainly spends an extra cash
Not so good. Going on maternity leave in September and still not sure what to do with my money!
great prize, I would need this to help with savings and also getting rid of my debt
I’m trying to pay off debts this year but it’s an uphill battle. This bundle would really help! Thanks
So far, so good, I have a plan and I’m sticking to it.
I have had better years financially but we are coping, we’ve not been able to have luxuries such as holidays but we have still managed to make happy memories which is what counts. i would love to win this, We are a low income family but i do my best <3
great – debt free this year
not great, the kids need so much and i can’t afford childcare to work more hours….so frustrating!!
Not so great at the moment having been on long term sick and only just returning to work part time, hopefully my finances will begin to improve soon
Not great, we need to be much more careful
We have just startedto budget for our wedding. It is the first major goal budget we have done as a couple. It’s really daunting and feels like a long road ahead.
Not so good, I bring in less than I spend but that is because I am on a very low income due to being disabled and unable to work.
Generally I’ve been getting on well with my financial goals this year, except I splurged a bit more than planned on my holiday in June! Had such a lovely time though.
I’m saving for a deposit on my own flat.
To do this – I only draw out £10 cash a week and leave all my cards at home, I take lunch to work rather than buying it, I have been selling on gumtree and ebay and car boot sales old clothes, shoes, books, games etc, cycle to work rather than drive if I am having an office day, No take aways!
So far since Jan I have nearly 5k saved
I’m planning on cancelling my cable service and house phone and just getting internet from my mobile company which will save me around £40 a month, and as i dont watch live tv I am going to opt out of the tv license too and just watch netflix and prime
