One year ago today we welcomed our first litter of puppies into the world.
It seems like forever ago but at the same time I can remember it clear as day as I actually missed the delivery! Fizz decided to have them about 5-6 days earlier than her ‘due’ date and I was at my parents house busy preparing for a craft fayre with my sister. I got a call from Dean to say he had been to check on Fizz in her bed and found her cleaning off 2 puppies – I raced home in time to see the last pup be born and then spent the rest of the evening in shock as I honestly didn’t expect them to arrive until the week after.
She gave birth to 3 beautiful black and tan puppies, 2 boys, Woody and Duke and of course one stunning little girl, our Luna. Fizz was a fantastic first time mum and did everything she was supposed to, they were pretty much a text-book whelping.
We had always said that we would keep a girl from our first litter if there was one and Luna couldn’t have been a more perfect pup to keep. She is the prefect mix of her parents – she has Fizz’s colouring and markings but she has a bigger and longer body shape more similar to her Dad (Diego). She is a lot more vocal than her Mum and a completely different personality, Luna should probably be short for Lunatic.
She is the sweetest little thing and loves cuddles and kisses, she will patiently wait until you’ve finished eating and then ‘sneak’ up to the sofa and jump on ever so gently (so you won’t notice her obviously) and stare at you until you pay attention to her.
We couldn’t have wished for a better fit for our family, she’s a little troublemaker but is also a complete clown, she drives us mad sometimes with her boundless energy (I’m sure Fizz calmed down after about 14months old!) but makes up for it by being the best snuggle buddy. I couldn’t imagine life without her and Fizz.
Happy Birthday my sweet girl, you’ll always be my puppy!
