It’s been a better week than last week, I’ve made some progress on some bits around the house and have some ideas for new projects. I’m feeling a bit nervous about what work could potentially say next week, I’m assuming my furlough will be extended for another few weeks at least but I hate not knowing for definite.
Tuesday 19th May
Today was a housework day, the dogs are not very helpful on days like this and just insist on laying/sitting in/sleeping on any laundry I bring downstairs. I don’t understand how the house gets so messy, I need to find a better system of managing it.

Soooo we had a bit of a incident with the pool…it flooded the garden just a tiny bit 🤦🏻♀️ The side collapsed as the mud below it seemed to be compacting (since we’d just dug it over)and it dumped around 250 gallons of water out on to the tarpaulin, it had been looking slightly lopsided this morning but I didn’t realise just how much it had sunk 😬 The water should drain away through some holes we’ve made in the tarpaulin and I’ll have another go at bailing it out later to help it go a bit quicker. Not too sure what the plan is now to be honest, might look at moving it on to the patio…I need a cocktail 😂 #britishsummer #wetsummer #mygardentoday #couldonlyhappentome #gardenpond #waddingpool #refelctionpool #homemadewaterfeature #waterfeature #gardenmishaps #flood #sinkhole
Well, today was eventful 😂 The side of the swimming pool collapsed and flooded the tarpaulin, everything was fine – nothing got damaged, the dogs weren’t caught in it but it has left a bit of a mess. We’re hoping it’ll drain through the tarpaulin and into the ground overnight and then we’ll have to look at moving the pool somewhere else.
I also discovered a little oak tree sapling in one of my pots Last year we had a squirrel in the garden a few times and he kept digging holes in my pot and burying acorns, I thought I’d got all of them out but obviously not! I think I’ll try and transplant this into its own little pot at some point and see if we can keep it growing.
My pots are also doing pretty well, it’s possible that I overfilled them though 😂 I also didn’t realise how many flower spikes the digitalis would through up, they each look like they’ve got at least another 5 to come up each at least!
Saturday 23rd May
Today was an ‘easy jobs’ day, I’m not really with it as I didn’t sleep well last night so I’ve just been doing easy bits and pieces that’ll set me up for a good week next week. I spent a few hours cutting up fabric into pattern pieces for cushions as part of a new project I’ll be working on in the coming weeks and then did a bit of tidying in the garden.
Monday 25th May
I spent today moving the ‘vegetable patch’ to the other patio as we’re going to move the swimming pool to the patio by the gym. That’s the beauty of container gardening, if you need to move something then you can nice and easily.
